Barcodes
Barcode labels on a roll made of either paper, plastic foil or even metal with fixed or consecutive barcodes. These machine readable codes are omnipresent in areas such as appliance monitoring, process control, time recording, stockkeeping and repair services.
All types of barcodes, including custom-made versions can be produced in an infinite amount of sizes and materials.
Printing with all sorts of colour combinations is possible. However, red is an exception, due to the fact that most scanners work with red light. A red barcode can only be read with a scanner that works with blue light.

Code 39
(sometimes known as Code 3 of 9)
Alphanumeric code with special characters
Self-checking
Advantages of Code 39
Can be read by almost all barcode scanners
Disadvantages of Code 39
Low information density
The gaps contain no information
Low tolerance
Code 128
ASCII-characters
Consecutve numbering
Self-checking
1 Check digit
3 Start characters
1 Stop character
Advantages of Code 128
High information density
Suitable for most types of printing technology

Complete set of ASCII characters cannot be represented with one character set
EAN 8
Numerical code
Consecutive numbering
Self-checking
1 Check digit
Fixed length, 8 digits
Split into two halves separated by a couple of long bars in the centre.
Advantages of EAN 8
High information density
For smaller sized productsl
Can be read even at an angle of 45° to the direction in which the article is moving
Suited to higher conveying speed
Disadvantages of EAN 8
Predefined, very small tolerance
Not for general use
EAN 13
Numerical code
Consecutive numbering
Self-checking
1 Check digit
Fixed length, 13 digits
Split into two halves of 6 digits separated by guard bars in the centre
Advantages of EAN 13
High information density
Can be read even at an angle of 45° to the direction in which the article is moving
Suited to higher conveying speed
Disadvantage of EAN 13
Predefined, very small tolerance
Code 2/5 Industry
(also known as Code 2 of 5)
Numerical code
Self-checking
Advantages of 2/5 Industry
No information in the spaces
High tolerance
Disadvantage of Code 2/5 Industry
Low information density
